New Blog: NextPert

April 1, 2008

Update: We have discontinued this blog.  Click here for a full explanation.

Our entries about the Gerson Lehrman Group and other expert networks had such a great response that I have launched a new blog just dealing with this subject called NextPert: Expert Networks. I plan to review existing expert networks, cover their new releases and provide marketing tips from a consultant’s perspective. Please contact me for any suggestions for our new blog.

Financial Rx

April 1, 2008

I am working on a new product for accountants and would like your input. I would like to develop a product for accountants. Each year business owners meet with their accountants to review their taxes. Accountants are in the perfect position to review their clients financial health, but are often so busy with taxes that they never have time to provide their clients the hands on service they need.

I would like to create a small package that an accountant can use to review their clients’ financial health. The package would include a list of questions that the accountant can ask his or her client and a few financial tools the client can implement right away. The accountant then sends the questionnaire with a copy of the client’s balance sheet and income statement to our processing center. Once all of the material has been reviewed, we send back recommendations for the client.

This system would save the accountants time and allows them to provide better service to their clients.  It also helps them create additional revenue with almost no additional effort.  Do you think that a product like this could work?  Can you see using it in your own accounting practice?

If you have any thoughts about this product, please include them in the comments section or email me directly.

I was already an avid reader of books on economic, starting - as many do - with Ayn Rand and then moving through William Easterly. A friend of mine recommended Peter Drucker as someone whose philosophical leanings corresponded closely with those of the Catholic Church.
